doPDF V8 Fails To Install
Re: doPDF V8 Fails To Install (8.0.906)
I just now tried installing doPDF 8.0.906. This was with the "offline installer" from [http://download.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-full.exe] with my Internet connection disabled.
The installation hung at 87% with the note "Searching for related applications". The Cancel button was ineffective. I did get the popup asking if I really wanted to cancel the installation. An affirmative response, however, yielded no action. I had to use the Windows Task Manager to kill the installation. (I saw the same problem with the Cancel button when trying to install 8.0.905.)
Although the installation of 8.0.906 was 87% complete, doPDF 7.3 remained installed and effective after Task Manager killed the installation.
===================================================================
Added information:
After attempting and failing to install doPDF 8.0.906, I deleted the "offline installer" file (having already archived a copy elsewhere). After that, whenever I rebooted (cold or warm), I got a splash window asking if I wanted to install doPDF 8.0.906. I traced that to a file named novapdf.exe in my [C:Program Data] directory.

Re: doPDF V8 Fails To Install
I too have experienced problems with installing v8.0.906. At around 78% error messages are thrown up, but in my case I was able to finalise the whole procedure by clicking a number of Cancel and Close buttons.
I sent my logfiles to [email protected]
As to v7 remaining on your system.
Yes, with the previous installer (build 905) I already noticed that version 8 is installed alongside any existing doPDF v7. No upgrade. (Actually, I am quite pleased with this for I have yet to see a stable version 8.)

Re: doPDF V8 Fails To Install
I have seen messages on a newsgroup (alt.windows7.general) that some users have no problem installing doPDF 8 in Windows 7. Is it possible that the problem is limited to the "offline installer" from [http://download.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-full.exe] and not from the stub installer ("web installer") from [http://dopdf-free-pdf-converter.soft112 ... nload.html]? I have been trying the former, not the latter.

Re: doPDF V8 Fails To Install
There was an issue with the installer (no matter if it's the web or full installer) where if the username (in Windows) was composed of two words it would return an error. The new build should've fixed that, so make sure you install the latest one.
Re: doPDF V8 Fails To Install
Just now, I again downloaded dopdf-full.exe from http://download.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-full.exe. It has the same SHA1 hash code as the dopdf-full.exe that failed to install. That is, nothing has changed with respect to the full installer.Softland wrote:There was an issue with the installer (no matter if it's the web or full installer) where if the username (in Windows) was composed of two words it would return an error. By the way, my Windows username is just my first name (one word).

The full offline installer for doPDF 8.0.907 does work if prior versions of doPDF are first removed.
