Turn off converting barcodes to alphanumeric characters

Turn off converting barcodes to alphanumeric characters

When trying to print a document that has a barcode, the resulting printout converts the barcode to alphanumeric characters. Its cool that it can even do that, but is there a way to turn that feature off?
