problem with CDC.StartDoc returns positive number on cancel

Using C++

After selecting doPDF v6 from PrinterDialog box am using

CDC.StartSoc(DOCINFO) which brings up doPDF file name and location dialog.

CANCEL from that dialog and StartDoc returns a positive number.
Why does it not return -1 to indicate that user has CANCELed from there.
